PUTNAM SCIENCE VARSITY 78

PUTNAM- The Upper Room Christian Royals defeated the Putnam Science Academy Mustangs by a score of 97-78 on Thursday night atop the Maple Street campus. The Mustangs were led in defeat by post grad guard Danny Ampofo who had 25 points. Alex Morrow and Seth Thomas contributed with 14 and 12 points respectively. Both Morrow and Thomas also had 8 rebounds. In the first half Jaiden Rivera provided a spark off the bench after a slow start for the Mustangs and ended up with 10 points. The Mustangs will be back in action after Thanksgiving break on Tuesday November 28th at 5pm when they will host Capital Prep.

NEW HAVEN- After starting the season 3-0 at home the Putnam Science Academy Mustangs hit the road to New Haven for the National Prep Showcase featuring the top prep school programs in the nation. 

Friday night, the Mustangs were able to earn a hard fought victory Friday night against Link Year Prep (MO) by a final score of 76-68. 

The Mustangs took a 35-30 lead into halftime as Kyle Lofton (10pts) and Josh Mballa (10pts) lead the way. 

Link Year Prep would not go away as they fought back in the second half to take a brief lead halfway through the second half.

The Mustangs promptly made a run of their own as Jose Perez once again stepped up big as he scored a game high 17 points and 8 rebounds.

The Mustangs also had contributions from two of their youngest players as Hassan Diarra chipped in with 10 points and Demarr Langford Jr had 5 points including a clutch three pointer to extend the late lead.

NEW JERSEY — Ariana Koivisto led the Mustangs with 14 points , 5 rebounds and 3 steals but it wasn’t enough on Friday night. Sha'raya Haines added 12 points and 7 rebounds and Aislinn Flynn scored 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists for Putnam Science (0-1).

NEW JERSEY - The Lady Mustangs lost their second game of the season on the road against Blair Academy 63-58. Ariana Koivisto, led Putnam Science (0-2) with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Kayla Robinson contributed 14 and Sha'raya Haines 11 points in the loss.

NEW HAVEN — Jose Perez had another typical performance with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, but the Mustangs (4-1) fell short 79-73 Saturday night.

PSA only made 12 of its 24 free throws and only 3 of 26 3 point field in the loss.

Kyle Lofton (7 assists) and Akok Akok each added 13 points for the Mustangs.

NEW HAVEN — Jose Perez had another typical performance with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, but the Mustangs (4-1) fell short 79-73 Saturday night.

PSA only made 12 of its 24 free throws and only 3 of 26 3 point field in the loss.

Kyle Lofton (7 assists) and Akok Akok each added 13 points for the Mustangs.

#4 PUTNAM SCIENCE 127

PUTNAM — Jose Perez led six players in double figures with 31 points and the Mustangs won their third straight game to start the season. Kyle Lofton scored 19 points and added 13 assists for the #4 ranked PSA team, while Cam Gooden added 19 points as well.

 Putnam Science Academy (3-0) will play a very tough Link Year Prep in the National Prep Showcase in New Haven at 6:45 p.m. Friday.

PSA VARSITY 107

PUTNAM — Danny Ampofo led the Mustangs squad with 27 points but it wasn't enough as Spire Academy won 110-107. Luc Brittian and Jaiden Rivera added 21 points each and Alex Morrow chipped in with 20 for Putnam Science. PSA Varsity falls to 0-2 on the season.

DME (FL) 95
PSA VARSITY 87

The Putnam Science Academy Varsity team opened the season on Friday night and suffered a close defeat to DME Sports Academy Post-Graduate team 95-87. Seth Thomas led the way for the Mustangs with 26 points while Danny Ampofo added 25. The Mustangs made a valiant comeback, but in the end weren’t able to get over the hump. They are back at it on Monday night as they host Spire Institute (OH) at 5pm.

#4 PSA 100

The #4 ranked Putnam Science Academy Prep team tipped off the season over the weekend with two resounding victories. On Friday night they hosted DME Sports Academy out of Daytona Beach, FL. The Mustangs won by a final score of 100-56. Jose Perez led the Mustang attack with 18 points and 5 rebounds while guard Caleb Nero scored 15 points. The only returnee from last year, Akok Akok chipped in with 12 points 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. 


KNOX SCHOOL (NY) 73
#4 PSA 116

The next day the Mustangs were back at it as they hosted the Knox School (NY) and won by a final score of 116-73. Akok Akok led the charge with 22 points which included five made three pointers. Jose Perez once again contributed with 15 points and 6 assists. Hassan Diarra and Nick Brennen each had 14 points off the bench. The Mustangs next play Monday night at home against Spire Institute (OH) at 7pm.
